jhana is an early-stage AI startup building intelligent and fundamental tools for legal services, founded at Harvard and based in BLR. We’ve recently launched and seed funded by the founders of Freshworks, Eka Software, CRED, RazorPay, InfrHQ executives from VMWare and OpenAI, and funds including Together Fund, Blume Ventures, and GradCapital.
We are looking for a Front-End Design Engineer to build delightful user interfaces.
Is this you?

You are obsessed with design and UX, and will eagerly spend 5 hours to save the client 5 seconds.

Mastery of JS (ES6), React, HTML, CSS and Figma is expected, React Spring or Framer Motion, CSS scaffolding libraries, and NextJS strongly preferred

Familiar with UI/UX best practices, and confident establishing new practices in uncharted areas based on first principles thinking and user research

Crave ownership over problem statements

Hungry for impact and to write code that is actually shipped

Experience with Adobe suite for asset generation and modification (vector, photo, and/or video)

Well-versed in Git best practices for collaboration and stable CI/CD

Confident with sophisticated uses of tools like Babel, Webpack, and Yarn
What will you be doing?

Building ground-up component design for new features, in collaboration with our AI team

Building out our design language and style guide in collaboration with our sales and market research team

Simplifying and beautifying existing features/interfaces

Designing and producing digital and print assets
About the Team
We are a public benefit corporation headquartered in Bangalore. We operate in rapidly changing legal systems with awareness of the stakes at hand. Our intention is to influence beneficence and alignment into the technological systems that are augmenting and replacing human institutions. Our team spans diverse identity and training, from physics and mathematics to law and public policy. We are small, fast-moving, horizontally flat, and built on collaboration between lawyers, academics, and engineers. We ship fast, and every line of code our team writes has a >0.9 expectation of making it to production.
Role details & miscellany
- As full-time as they come. This is a demanding role that is only suited for you if you want to work founder-like hours in exchange for founder-like upsides.
- Total comp will be above market rates and include stock options. Compensation will be commensurate to your experience, your theses, and our mutual excitement. For context, some approximate ranges with experience as an imperfect proxy for ability:
- 3-5y: INR 14-25 LPA
- 5y+: INR 25-35 LPA
- Start ASAP with an initial trial of ~2 months, variable by candidate. If you are looking to leave a current role, email us if this is of concern.
- Remote/Location: Must be based in Bengaluru or willing to relocate. At least 80% of your hours must be in-office, some remote is fine.
